On 1 Nov, Jacky participated in a concert organised by the Commercial
Radio together with Andy Hui, William So, Ronald Cheng and Daniel Chan.
During the concert, in which Jacky was the spotlight artist, Jacky sang
songs by other featured singers, putting his own personal stamp of
interpretation to these pieces to great musical effect. A detailed
report of this concert can be found in the "Discussion Forum" in this
website.
Jacky is now staying in Hong Kong but he will be flying to Taiwan again
on 8 Nov to continue the promotion of "NO REGRET". Jacky took this
opportunity in Hong Kong to dispell rumours that his wife, May, had been
pregnant, and he told reporters that he and his wife would only consider
plans for having a child next year, after he completed his concert run
in Hong Kong next Spring.
Jacky was the guest at Ocean Chan's late night radio program on RTHK on
30 Oct where he stayed for more than 2 1/2 hours sharing his thoughts on
many aspects of his life and other matters with listeners and answering
questions by lucky callers who managed to get through by phone. One
caller was an ex-colleague of Jacky in Cathy Pacific, and she gave away
the story that when Jacky was working as a ground staff of the air
carrier, there was a secret admirer around who grabbed all opportunities
to get closer to Jacky! Jacky was very surprised to learn about that and
said that he was not aware of it at all even when, according to the
caller, everyone in the office seemed to have notice it! Ha, it seems
that Jacky was not very sensitive to these things in his greener days!
Another point brought up during the program was about Jacky's
relationship with PolyGram. This has subsequently hit the headlines in
newspapers and rumour was rife that Jacky would be leaving PolyGram, or
at least changing the manner of cooperation with the record company
which he has remained for 13 years, and indeed ever since he entered the
music scene. It seemed that Jacky would be setting up his own production
house so that he would have more control over the production of his
records (and therefore would also have more freedom and scope to pursue
his musical vision and ideals) while the right of distribution of these
records may continue to be given to PolyGram.
Fans who would like to discuss this matter may wish to visit the
"Discussion Forum". While the writer will not guess at the reasons for
such decision (after all, nothing has yet been finalised), he would like
to say that it is no doubt a momentous decision to be made by Jacky. And
given his long attachment to PolyGram, which has surely fostered in him
a deep sense of belonging in the company, it is not an easy decision to
make either. However, Jacky obviously has the talent, experience and
vision to engage in such a bold move, which may actually signal a brand
new creative phase in Jacky's career.
Some newspaper articles have described that Jacky will be shouldering a
lot more risk alone in the future by making such an arrangement. As
Jacky said in the radio program, he is now at a cross-road in his
career. It is a point where Jacky will need our whole-hearted support
more than ever before. Nevertheless, the writer is certain that all
Jacky fans will firmly support Jacky's decision, whatever it may be
(such decision, after all, ultimately stems from his great passion and
integrity in his music production and his admirable sense of
responsibility towards his work). Thus, Jacky won't be feeling "lonely"
at all as all of us will continue to march firmly and closely beside him
whether in wind or rain and wherever he goes.

Jacky in HK Most Outstanding Youth Award
Yesterday (7/11) is the formal award presentation ceremony
of the 'HK Most Outstanding Youth Award'.
(There was a press conference to announce the result before)
In the ceremony, there was one part which was performed by the award-owners. They together
sang a song for cheering up all who are experiencing hard time at present in HK. Jacky,
just like a teacher, gathered and helped all those award-owners to rehearse the chorus in
the rehearsal time.
At the moment when Jacky was receiving the award from the hand of the
Secretary for Justice,
Miss Elsie Leung Oi Sie, Department of Justice, HKSAR, he was so nervous that the flower
which was originally pined on his suit was suddenly fell onto the stage...What a lovely Jacky!
Jacky's 1999 concert would be held from 5th Feb. And his new Cantonese album would be released
in January for the concert. We all have to save money for the tickets and the album!
