1985. Retired for 4 years, came back in 1989, starting the 
, as the counter for the UWFi. One time, Onita asked to wrestle for the UWFi, but the UWFi refused his ideas of wrestling.
Onita said, "Everything belongs in Puroresu." Onita started first ever electrical barbed wire death match on August 4th, 1990, against Tarzan
Goto. Onita retired in 1995, beating Hayabusa in the last "electrical cage bomb" match in existence. Without Onita, leagues such as the 
would not be around and those wrestlers would not have
paychecks. Without Onita, Jr. Heavyweight wrestlers would have hard time surviving in the wrestling business.

In my opinion, I always think Atsushi Onita is a Masochist. Looking back all of his matches in the would not exist, and less wrestlers would be receiving
paychecks. Onita was the counter for the AJPW, against Tiger Mask. Onita and Tiger Mask made the Jr. Heavyweights famous, and if Onita does
not go down as the true legend of Puroresu, it will be a shame.
, you will find that ALL the matches are Death Matches. Such as barbed wire and time bomb
death matches. I don't know why Onita like those death matches so much, is it the necessary way to run his ? But anyway, Onita is the legend of hardcore wrestling, that
is what I can't deny, although I always think he is a Masochist.
